Beverly Hills.

Well Hello!
I'm so sorry for the delay in blogging - sometimes priorities, health, and life manage to get the best of me.
I am starting to make California Dreamin' more of a priority as well because it is a part of my life.
A few months ago, my mother, my TuTu - which is a grandmother in hawaiian, and myself ventured to Villa Blanca to give it a try. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was beautiful and uplifting. It was very romantic. As you can see from the bottom pic, I did get a pic with Pandora, daughter of Lisa Vanderpump - part owner of V.B. and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fave. Lisa, Ken, and Giggy were both there having dinner with a friend but I felt it inappropriate to bug them and get a pic even though everyone else in the restaurant was. Pandora, her husband, and some of the other cast members from Lisa's show "Vanderpump Rules" were also there waiting and bartending.
I bought my dress from H&M along with my necklace. My shoes are from Target.
My next trip to the Hills I plan on going to SUR where the atmosphere is funner and younger...so I hear from my mother who has gone without me.
I hope you are enjoying my "Ropers Sports News" columns.
I am no longer on facebook so feel free to email me: amycwitt@gmail.com or follow me on instagram.

Heart of Gold - Ropers Sports News May Edition

Heart of Gold
Ropers Sports News May Edition
By Amy Witt

Bismarck, North Dakota,  Berger Family’s PBR Touring Pro Event, I remember walking into an autograph signing and thinking  “Oh, my gosh what am I suppose to do?” I look across the room and my eyes meet a bubbly, beautiful, blonde, wearing a smile from ear to ear…instantly I knew we would be friends. We knew of each other but we knew nothing about one another. As I skipped across the room, I greeted her – “Hey, you want to grab a Starbucks?”
"I love bulls! I would have to say my favorite is, of course, K55 Smackdown because he is our number one bull. I love how he's unique looking and is rideable, but when ridden you're looking at big scores. He also finished top 3 in the world and was a contender for a world title which is pretty special to all of us. My family has been raising bulls since the 1960's so I have had quite a few favorites since I was a little kid, but I would have to say my all time favorite was a bull that came from Terry Williams his name was Rockin' Robin and he was the coolest little bull we ever had at our place. I could go up to him and give him a huge kiss and just pet him and that was always something I found to be pretty awesome."
With bucking bulls running through her veins, a jam packed closet, an ultimate fox, guitar playing fool,  and a fashionista with a heart of gold, Sadie Berger, 21, from Mandan, North Dakota has become one of the greatest people I have ever met.  Being inspired by her belief in God, her Grandmothers, and her mother, Sadie has dreams that will not be stopped.  In May of 2014, Sadie will be graduating from Dickinson State University with business administration diploma. Working towards her personal trainer certificate, she also plans to open her own gym while producing her own bull riding events and establishing a bucking bull breeding program which naturally goes along with owning her own bulls.
Tell me about being the daughter of Chad Berger?
"Being the daughter of a PBR stock contractor has been one of the biggest blessings in my life- Not because my dad is recognized for having good stock, but because of all the people I have met, places I have been, and lessons I have learned. The PBR and the bull riding in general are something I feel I am very lucky to be apart of. The people I consider my best friends and family I have met through the PBR and will now be people I call family forever. I really have enjoyed seeing the country with amazing people. One thing I think is neat is that I've been to cities all over the country, but have always been around at least 40+ people I know and am familiar with - that is something I really appreciate. It's really funny to me that people want my dad's autograph because to me he's just my dad, the guy who never let me quit anything, taught me many of my life lessons, and the guy I turn to when I need something. My dad's a great guy and has given me a life I am so thankful for and I love that he followed in my grandfather's footsteps and got himself into the bull industry, I just hope I can do as well as he has."
Sadie's number one must haves are her Ray-Bans, Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue perfume, mascara, liquid eyeliner, and a beaded headband. Of course she can't live without her iPhone, mascara, "It's a 10" leave in conditioner, and hair straightener for her luscious blonde locks.
As for fashion, this blondie has the coolest, sweetest sense of style. She loves anything from Chanel to Forever 21 and is a sucker for long cross necklaces, feather earrings, and fringe boots. Sadie loves to rock the PBR events wearing either jeans and heels or leggings and boots.
Sadie is one of the most down to earth, genuine girls you could ever meet. When she walks into a room you can guarantee she will brighten it!

Our companion, The Cowboy Hat. - Ropers Sports News April Edition

Ropers Sports News April Edition
Our companion, The Cowboy Hat
Amy Witt

William Shakespeare once said, “He wears his faith but as the fashion of his hat.”
Confidence, faith, fashion, pride, a statement, an ensemble, a finishing touch, and even our soul- Because of this intimate relationship between mankind and hat, it’s easy to see how a cowboy hat can say so much about a person - individually telling a story about our character or life. Being so vital and important to us in so many ways from the ranch to the arena to everyday life, without our cowboy hat we don’t feel whole.
Every cowboy hat has a story. Each one speaks of its owner's experience, showing through with little to hide. The shape, the color, the band, the fit, the way it's worn on our heads, our hats are a very personalized piece of attire, as well as a, generalized identity of the cowboy or cowgirl.
From blood, rips and tears, stains, bar fights, bucks off, sun damage, fading, stomping on, and other ranch and arena damage, the necessity companion expresses the adventures endured while perched atop your head.
Historians say that the origins of the first cowboy hat were in Mongolia where horseback riding was a way of life. The idea moved to Europe and transitioned into the Spanish sombrero which was then brought to Mexico. When Americans wearing the slouch hat of the Southern planters arrived in Texas they combined it with the sombrero and a wide brimmed high crowned cowboy hat was born.  John B. Stetson established his company, Stetson Hats in 1865. When Stetson began traveling west from Philadelphia after Civil war, he created a high crown small brim cowboy style hat out of rabbit and beaver fur. When he returned east he made more and shipped samples to western stores, called “The Boss of the Plains.”  In the late nineteenth, early twentieth centuries, notable Stetson wearers were amongst the names of Colonel William F. Cody “Buffalo Bill,” Calamity Jane, Will Rogers, and Annie Oakley.
The cowboy hat has been infused into our culture, and has become widely regarded for its functionality and aesthetic value. The cowboy hat continues and will always be an American icon. So tell me what does your cowboy hat say about you?

Landon Gill - Ropers Sports News February Issue

Landon Gill
Ropers Sports News February Issue
By Amy Witt

When it comes to cattle, horses, roping and cowboying on your family’s 10,000 acre ranch, Landon Gill, 26 from Madera, California is stepping out in style and on top of his game. Winning last year’s title fight at the Dynamite Arena, dominating multiple World Series ropings with his father, David Gill, and winning well over $70,000, Landon has set high standards for 2013 striving to be successful no matter what he endeavors.
Raising out of this world horses for over 60 years, running roughly 400 head of stockers, and ranching in Madera county for over 80 years, Landon helps his family work on their ranch living up to their well respected name. Their bi-annual horse sale started in 2001, selling Gill’s horse bloodlines –2013 brings a horse sale!
His Grandfather, Will Gill Jr., and his father, David Gill, are his inspirational and influential figures in his life.
“My grandpa is well respected and always leads by example. He is very generous, kind hearted, and hard working man. Anyone should idolize him. My father, I respect him for what he’s done throughout my life with the opportunities to do whatever I want while always giving the best advice.”
One of Landon’s biggest compliments is having someone praise his horses. He takes pride in the horses his family has raised being able to cowboy on the ranch to the transition of backing one in the box and winning.
As we talked fashion, we both laughed because I already knew the answers to my questions - short and simple as I assumed. Ralph Lauren and Wrangler are Landon’s favorite clothing companies. His wardrobe consists of long sleeves button ups, polo shirts, in which he loves, and plethora of old clothes.
Passionate about life, grateful for his family and friends, Landon is a handsome, fun, happy, talented man who has goals of following in his father foot steps and competing at the NFR. In 10 years, he hopes to be a very successful business man on and off the ranch, running cattle of his own, a family of his own, and taking his roping above all limits.
When I asked Landon about his favorite quote he looked at me and laughed – then I had to die laughing with him. “A corriente’s nightmare and a woman’s dream,” a quote Landon himself created – appropriate for his happy go-lucky personality.
“Any closing thoughts,” I ask.
“Like my mom said everyday when she dropped me off to school, be kind and do one nice thing for someone. Those words have stuck with me. Be happy and be thankful for what you have.”
